2-piece Can

Core Process

Can body is formed through multiple deep drawing of sheet metal without ironing, so the wall thickness of the tank remains basically unchanged. The tank body and tank bottom are integrally formed, and then assembled with a tank end to make a two-piece can.

Complete Process Flow

  • Sheet  Feeding

CNC feeding of tinplate sheets.

  • First Drawing

Sheets are fed into the press to continuously blank circular blanks and undergo the first drawing to form the primary shape.

Scrap coils are collected for recycling, and drawn workpieces are conveyed to the next process.

  • Redrawing  Forming Core Process

Shallow cups are transferred to the redrawing press. Multiple sets of dies gradually reduce the diameter and heighten the tank body to form the target can.

Secondary or tertiary redrawing is adopted depending on the can height.

  • Base Forming

Canned food cans require pressure resistance. The can base is stamped into a dished base (spherical base, egg-shaped base, special-shaped base) to withstand internal pressure and avoid base bulging or collapsing.

  • Can Trimming

The can mouth is uneven after drawing. The trimmer cuts off excess material at the can mouth to unify the can height and guarantee dimensional accuracy for subsequent seaming with the end.

  • In-line Quality Inspection

In-line visual inspection is implemented via industrial computers. Non-conforming cans are automatically rejected.

  • Finished Can Conveying, Palletizing & Packaging

Qualified cans are stacked and palletized, packed and stored in warehouse, ready for filling and assembly with tank ends.
