Lock Seamed Cans

Featuring mechanical interlocking construction with no welding seams, they are applicable to round, square and special-shaped cans. Widely used for dry food, nuts, tea leaves and gift packaging, as well as rice cooker shells, stainless steel trash cans and other products, all fabricated via the lock seam process.

Main Can Body Forming Line (Core Process Flow)

  • Blank Cutting

Printed tinplates are cut into single can body blanks by shears, with strict control to ensure burr-free and scratch-free edges.

  • Corner Notching

Four corners at both ends of each blank are chamfered with dies to avoid overlapping and bulging of tinplate during subsequent curling and lock seaming.

  • Pre-Curling

Special dies continuously fold the two long sides of the tinplate into a Z-shaped overlapping structure (the preliminary lock seam profile). The folding angle and depth directly determine the tightness of the lock seam.

  • Body Rolling

The flat blank is rolled into a square or cylindrical shape, aligning the two pre-folded edges for overlapping.

  • Lock Seam Forming (Seam Pressing)  Core Station

Workpieces are fed into an automatic lock seamer. Upper and lower dies apply heavy pressure to tightly interlock and compact the two layers of folded tinplate, forming a continuous sealed seam.

  • Can Body Finishing: Flanging,  Curling, Beading, Bottom Lids Seaming

Stations, functions and configurations of the can body forming machine are customized according to the structural requirements of the cans.
